Happy 2012
Mood:  rushed
Now Playing: PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD re: Be An Angel!!!!
Topic: Thank you's

Thank you to everyone who have turned out in support for Elle, and all of the animals!!!!!

We still have one month (a little less) to get our wishes granted - with community support!!!!!!!

Kathryn and Ben have been caring for all of the animals with help from dedicated volunteers ...  It has been cold!!!  Our spirits are good, though!  The animals are happy.  Thanks to you.

Miss Kim and Miss Genna have been spending lots of time helping in every possible way.  Miss Kim also has been felting the most adorable animals from alpaca and llama fleece (and some Pyrenees fur) - no animals are harmed in the process....

Please check out our three wishes on "Be an Angel." If you know of any businesses that would be willing to post flyers, please let Kathryn know.

Donations of items are needed.  Any help is appreciated!  Call Kathryn for the most up to date needs... (610) 398-2122 or e-mail gressmountainranch@gmail.com

 Peace and Blessings to All!!!

 - Jen W. (on behalf of TGMR)

 OUR WISHES:

# 1  Monetary Donations and Tractor Supply Co. Gift Cards for LeRoy Piggy (feed and medications)  LeRoy loves people.  He is 13 years old and has piggy dementia and a brain tumor.

# 2  Small Animal Room needs linoleum and luan flooring for the rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, and Great Pyrenees dogs (to assist with cleaner living).  Please send donations or let Kathryn and Ben Gress know if you are able to donate items.

# 3 Volunteers!!!!  Volunteers are needed for administrative, clerical work, grant writing, assisting with planning/orchestrating fundraising events.  Volunteers are also needed for animal care needs, cleaning animals' living areas, and pasture management.  Writers are needed for creatively recording the history of the animals and writing interesting anecdotes.

The Day of Caring
Mood:  happy
Topic: Thank you's
We had a lot of people e-mailing each other with thanks and praise. So here they are listed in chronological order. We at The Gress Mountain Ranch are blessed to have so many wonderful people on our team. So Blog away buddies.

Write up by Alan Jeffery What an outstanding job you all did yesterday!!!

Thank you so much for pitching in as you did. I think we got almost as much done with 20 people as we did last year with 70!
Steve for subbing for me in the morning and getting the fence post crew so far along that by the time I got there all I had to do was applaud!

Jim for joining, leading, and working the entire day after the world's shortest new hire introduction! ... and for helping me pack my truck!

Barney for joining us to build the new deck railing... looks carpenter-like - Tonya painted it and you'd swear it was always there!!

Pat for recording the event, the food, and bringing Halloween to the ranch!

Kim for inspiring a team to work the entire day on the wool and producing so many ornaments!

Sylvia for a newly visible garage floor, organization to Ben's tools, the food, and everything else she did when I wasn't looking!

Ron for the greenhouse and pegboard - you're hired!!

Tom for the new shelving and for lugging much of the garage contents back into the garage when carpentry was no longer required!
Kathy and Ben would be hard pressed to find better friends than you all! From Alan our LEADER!

Yes! Everyone did a fabulous job!! :) And thanks to you too Alan! I am sure I don't know half of what you did to make this year's day(s) of caring a great success! And with a bad cold and teaching responsibilities to work around!

Thanks for your great leadership, organizational skills, positive attitude, and having the vision to "hire" the right person(s) for each job to accomplish so many great things!
It really seemed that every task went like clockwork. A big hats off to all the leaders and the great volunteers!

Kathryn and Ben, it was really fun! I'm sure you were pleased with every one's efforts and the great results! Everything looked fabulous! And you can actually find things now in the garage! Now be sure to keep it clean! LOL! :)

--------------------from KG & BG
Yes, it was so good, and with much less people who did double or more of the work. That was very amazing! Yes, everyone of you added your own flare. I did see many people taking pictures of the animals, especially Stanley, and asked a lot of questions about them. I think the people had more fun this time too.
Pat, thank you for sticking with the decorating and doing a One Lady team project. You have me motivated to clean up and just continue with the"surgery of the Halloween items, or throwing out, if that's needed too. And Pat, I can't thank you enough for getting and rounding up the Giant gift cards and then the shopping of the food. The cookies selection was the best. Pat, the way you drove your car, and stirred up the "BEANS" got the folks raving about your culinary expertise!
Ben and I are most grateful, as we truly can't do even 1/8 of what you all did. I wanted to be of more help all around, however, I have several animals with some numerous medical treatments. That took some time to do for the animals. We are just thrilled that we have folks with so many super talents, to get in there on these types of projects to make it happen.
Yes, Pat, We are always amazed how Alan, can coordinate, lead, and configure, what projects, who does what, when and how, and the supplies needed, and then Alan, definitely has the gift of enmeshing people to make all of this so very successfully.
The volunteer center was very pleased, that we were able to accomplish what we did, due to the postponing from the weather issues. They send their "Excellent" message out to all of you...
Again, thank you all for caring, supporting, and being so generous for the animals, the ranch, and keeping our "mission" of animals helping people & people helping animals alive and thriving!!! Also All of you wonderful people-------, helping out two "middle-aged ranch people". Ben and I really can't do it without ALL OF YOU!!
God Bless you all, this day and always, KG & BG

I agree Alan is amazing. Patience of a saint and drive of a steam engine. Great job to all. Also want to thank Peg for helping me in a pinch. She flew in like an angel.
Thanks for all who helped on Thursday and just dug in and got the jobs accomplished.

From Pat Reinhart : I think we all had a wonderful time, were happy to be there and help to make a difference, and also have fun too!
And yes, it was neat to see Kathryn sharing info and answering questions about the animals with all the volunteers gathered around.

The success was obvious looking at each project, but the pride people were obviously feeling was a great thing to witness too. I mean the garage looks absolutely fabulous, but also the wood projec! It was just amazing back there! As well as the team using the auger to put in the posts! That is quite the production. And one of these days, I want to participate in working with the alpaca hair. I just find that process so amazing!

Of special note were the young men who fixed the bench. I spoke with one of them and he said initially looking at it, they never thought they could fix it properly because they had never done anything like that, nor painted anything for that matte! He was just putting on the finishing strokes of the stain and he was just so proud of himself and the job he did. It was really neat to hear him share that so I just wanted to share that with all of you as well. It's wonderful for Kathryn and Ben, animals, and Ranch in general to have all these great improvements happening, but it's also wonderful for the volunteers too to stand back and feel so good about the contribution they made and the sense of accomplishment in themselves. IT'S ALL GOOD!! :)
