VOLUNTEER FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH 2010.

Meet Michael Roberts, Mike has started to volunteer from January 26th 2010.  Mike's mother Tammy, who knew Charlie Bobenko, the father of Mia & Dante referred Mike to TGMR.   Mike has been a valuable volunteer for the animals and the ranch.  Here Mike is sitting petting Rocky, The Great Pyrenees dog. Welcome aboard as part of the Gress family helping Animals & People.

Mike is very kind with the animals, and has been able to learn multiple tasks at the ranch.  Mike is very willing to work with other people in order to help the animals at the ranch.  Mucking the stalls, to feeding the goats, to taking Miss Kayla for her doctor apartments, along with helping all the animals, inside and outside, has been rewarding for Mike...Ben and Kathryn are very appreciative of having Mike volunteer and help the "therapy animals."  Mike, with warm gratitude, we really "thank you" for sharing your time, efforts, and talents" in helping The Gress Mountain Ranch. BG and KG.

Here is Mike working hard feeding the alpacas, Andrew Alpaca and Bond Picador.....All the animals really respond well to Mike's gentle touch and caring ways.   Mike is getting much "hands on experience" as he studies toward his schooling of Vet technician/assistant position.

Below is Mike feeding JoJo & Cecely the donkeys, and Katrina & Randy the goats.  The animals have a very nutritious diet of popcorn, "no salt or butter", and garden salad.   Mike is hand feeding everyone here, and it's a challenge to hold the silver big bowl, as the animals press down with the heads, faces in the food, and EAT!   Great work Mike....You are very flexible with doing all kinds of tasks at the ranch!  We are very fortunate to have Mike helping the animals and volunteering...Mike is also expanding his knowledge of taking care of large/small, and exotic animals at TGMR.

Below is a picture of Miss Kayla receiving a treatment of VOM (Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation) by Dr. Carol Peterson from Hoofs Paws Claws practice of veterinary chiropractic care.  Mike is seen here implementing the correct dog restraint technique to help relax and hold Kayla safely while she has her treatment.  The treatment is not painful...and is used for many reasons, i.e. for Kayla for Agility Dysfunction, Progressive Arthritis and Inflammation and weakness in the extremities.

Biography I am a 20year old welder from Kuhnsville Pa. I decided to volunteer at The Gress Mountain Ranch after being temporarily laid off from my welding job. I've been an avid animal lover my whole life, and my experience at Gress has been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. it has even helped me to realize and pursue my true calling, as I am currently enrolled in an online associate's degree program at Penn Foster College in veterinary technology. I've developed a strong bond with the animals at Gress and they've changed my life for the better. I would recommend volunteering at Gress to anyone who wants a truly meaningful and rewarding volunteering experience. by Mike
