SPOTLIGHT VOLUNTEERS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2008.

Here are our volunteers for the month of Dec. Meet Nancy Fries (left) and Sylvia Merkel (right). Sylvia learned of TGMR via the "Be An Angel" program in the newspaper, and Nancy found us on RCN cable TV.
We are very appreciative of having both wonderful ladies, Sylvia and Nancy be our "angels" helping these animals, and in turn, these animals are helping the people. It's a "win-win" situation for both People & Animals! KG & BG

Nancy Fries says," Everyone should volunteer, it's good for you." Nancy a construction worker, who built bridges, is now laid off, and hopes of getting back to work soon. She helps during the week to feed the animals, ground maintenance, walking the dogs, and fixing fencing for the trees as protection. Nancy, says, "I love animals, and I just came over. Rocky and I can go for nice long walks, and "the animals are spoiled here at the ranch."  Nancy likes to keep in shape, and the work around the ranch, just does that well. Nancy enjoys the fresh air, and feels better, about "everything."  "I am having a wonderful experience at The Gress Mountain Ranch."  Nancy has been a great help and does a nice job with her pasture clean up, reports Kathryn.

Sylvia Merkel says, I believe in your mission to help our dear helpless animals. If some one wants to have a great day and an emotional lift, stop by at Gress Mountain Ranch and meet all of the wonderful guests. This is a place where no one grumbles except maybe our Pot Belly Pigs( LeRoy and Pearl ) oh so cute. The view is gorgeous, air is fresh and if you want you can get some exercise while helping in this wonderful cause. Any help would be appreciated from repairing fencing to dropping off a bag of apples, oranges and applesauce for their meds. They have a wonderful web site explaining their  cause and how you can help.

Below Sylvia, is meeting Forrest and Teagan and feeding the alpacas today...It's Sylvia's first time with this kind of ranch work, but Sylvia, pitches right in and helps in all facets of the animal's care. We are truly blessed to have Sylvia, and her caring ways for all the animals at the ranch.

Below is Sylvia at work feeding, Ellie, the retired plow horse, who loves to lick her feed bucket clean and Sylvia is very patient and tender to Ellie.  Sylvia, is a realtor and helps out during the week, helping Kathryn with all the feeding of the animals, the ground maintenance, and walking Rocky, the Great Pyrenees dog..  We are very happy to have Sylvia, join the team of helping animals, and in turn, the animals helping people. Sylvia, believes in TGMR's mission and saw the photos and article about "Be an Angel.".

Here is Nancy Fries, from Allentown, Pa...who has been my angel helping during the week.  Nancy is pictured here with Ellie, the retired plow horse in the feeding today.

When you work with Animals you just have to smile say both volunteers Sylvia and Nancy
