Meet Julia

Julia was the spotlignt volunteer for the month of September 2008.

Miss Julia, has gone "above and beyond " with wings of caring for the therapy animals.  Julia, is pictured here with Samson, the "Nubian goat", who is relaxing now, but at times gets himself in a "heap" of trouble. Julia, has been very patient and caring with Samson, and all the animals.. Julia, has extended herself, to help out with the ground maintenance, the grooming, feeding of the animals, and also, in many special events such as: goat hoof trimming and the "annual yard sale" and donkey rides.  Julia, is our future, stepping ahead to increase "awareness" of how animals help heal people."  Julia is committed to our cause/our mission at The Gress Mountain Ranch, with her friendly face and smile.  Julia, lets no "challenge" pass her by, and stays on the course when duty, with the care of the animals calls.  Thank you Julia, for your "special" way of caring-the way of "volunteers." Recognizing Julia, and her commitment to the animals, gives us many reasons to rejoice, for without you, we could not do the work we do.

Below 08-02-08-The Gress Annual Yard Sale-where both Caitlin and Julia, are taking some of the "girl scouts" for a donkey cart ride! Cecely & JoJo, the donkeys, did learn that donkey cart rides can be FUN! All the young girls really enjoyed that day, thanks to both Caitlin and Julia!  At this time, I acknowledge both of you lovely young ladies, changing the lives of these animals & people, with your "giving and caring" actions that bring such value to all these experiences!

Below, Miss Julia, with Dede, the Morgan Mare, and Mr. Victor, a new junior volunteer. Julia, extends herself, to help others to learn about the duties, chores, and animals' unique personalities, along with each animal's heartfelt story. Julia, who is "in her element" with horses, teaches some of the volunteers had to work around a horse, and even gave a few "lessons" to Miss Molly. Julia, and her family have supported Miss Kathryn, Ben, and all the animals, with their love and dedication to our mission of helping "animals and people." That is an important and huge Job, and we appauld, all of your great work!  Keep up your Spirit!

Autobiography from Julia:

I'll be a ninth grade student come fall and I need to complete at least sixty hours of service before I graduate. I love all animals and ride horses at Hope Lock Farm, so when I saw Gress Mountain Ranch advertised in my service booklet, I knew that was what I wanted to do. I've learned so much since my first visit and there is never a dull moment. I absolutely love all the animals, but Samson is my favorite. It can be a lot of hard work, but to me every effort is worth it because I get back ten times more than what I give. Mrs. Gress is so inspiring because she so selflessly gives all her dedication to these animals and is so patient when she teaches me new things. I have a feeling I will go way beyond my sixty hours because I can't imagine a week without Ellie's clumsy steps or Clarence's loud call. Helping at the ranch is an experience I will never regret and will always cherish.
